What is CatalystOne Engage (formerly Populum), and how does it work?

CatalystOne Engage is a modern, mobile-friendly pulse survey platform that sends short, regular surveys to capture how employees are doing. We provide real-time insights and practical recommendations to help organisations act quickly. Originally known as Populum, we became part of CatalystOne in February 2024.

How often are pulse surveys sent, and how long do they take?

The frequency is fully flexible (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, annually, or at any custom interval) so you can adapt it to your company needs. Running employee surveys once a year works just as well, but we recommend a more frequent schedule. Regular pulse surveys make it possible to track engagement continuously and work with employee experience as part of everyday life. Each pulse survey is intentionally short, which helps boost participation and reduce survey fatigue. We see that shorter surveys increase response rates, which is why we recommend that each survey should take no more than 1-3 minutes to complete.

Are responses anonymous and GDPR-compliant?

All employee responses will always be 100% anonymous and GDPR compliant. To protect individual privacy, results are only shown once the number of responses meets your organisation’s chosen anonymity threshold, otherwise they remain hidden. This ensures that no single employee can ever be identified. CatalystOne also details security and privacy controls (e.g., TLS encryption in transit, GDPR practices) in its Trust Centre.

Is CatalystOne Engage ISO 27001 certified and SOC 2 compliant?

Yes. We are ISO 27001 certified and SOC 2 compliant, which means your data is protected by internationally recognised standards. ISO 27001 ensures we manage information securely through a robust framework across people, processes, and technology. SOC 2 provides independent verification that our systems meet strict criteria for security, availability, and confidentiality. These certifications give you the assurance that your data is safe with us.

How do employees access and answer surveys? Does it integrate with our HR systems?

Employees can easily participate via email, SMS, QR code, or kiosk, making it accessible for both office-based and deskless workers. Single sign-on (SSO) can also be used. Engage integrates seamlessly with your existing HR/HCM system, syncing employee data and updates automatically. We take pride in finding the right setup for even the most complex organisations, ensuring every employee has a simple way to access and answer surveys.

What business outcomes can we expect from Engage?

Organisations use Engage to strengthen performance while reducing people-related risks. With AI-powered analytics, you can identify and act on the key drivers of engagement – a factor closely linked to lower sick leave, reduced turnover, and stronger sales results.

How do I navigate to the reports?

  1. Access the Populum platform through app.populum.se
  2. Click “Analytics hub” on the first page
  3. If you have access to several scopes – click the desired report scope
  4. If you have access to one scope or have clicked the desired scope - click the desired report type
 

Managers can see the result for their team and the team they belong to. If their organization allows it, they will have access to pause an employee if they are away for a longer period of time, such as parental leave or sick leave.

  1. Check that your username is correct. Your username is the email address where you received your invitation to the survey
  2. If your organization has SSO enabled; Sign in with the same password as you do at your workplace
  3. If your organization has not got SSO enabled; Navigate to app.populum.se and choose “Get new password”. Enter the email address that is associated with your Populum account. Follow the reset link that you have received in the email from us (check your spam folder if you cannot find it).

Logging in to CatalystOne Engage

As a superuser, you may have one or several of these access rights:

  • Access to results for the whole organization, including divisions/departments, segments and teams.
  • Administrate access rights
  • Make changes to the organization tree (remove and pause users) and edit user data
  • See sensitive comments (flagged due to mention of names or sensitive subjects)

To move a user, follow these instructions:

Moving a user

To remove a user, search for the user's name on the platform and click the gear wheel.
1. Choose “Remove {name}”.
2. Confirm by clicking “Remove {name} from Populum”.

If the user is a manager – follow the steps in this article:

Deleting a user

There could be several reasons. Follow these steps:

  1. Check your spam folder to see if you invitation has been marked as spam
  2. Check the possible emails where you could have received your survey
  3. Ask your HR department or closest manager to find out what email address is registered on your profile and check the inbox for the registered email
  4. If you still cannot find your survey, have your HR department/manager contact Populum for further support

Follow these instructions:

Changing manager

  1. Sign in to app.populum.se.
  2. Click “Analytics hub”
  3. If you have access to several results; Navigate to the scope that you want to see.

Note that you can only access your results when it has been made available for your level (superuser/manager/employee).
